In 2021, a young lady called Precious who had recently graduated at the time from the department of Chemistry with a Second Class Upper Division from one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria, needed to make a decision. See where the choice she made landed her.
Having graduated with such an amazing result, as they see it in Nigeria, the question for her was “What should I do next?” get a job? Go for her master’s programme or what?
Then she decided to a attach herself to a Tech Hub where she started learning Robotics as a Newbie, in case you don’t know what Newbie is, it means Novice. Never been in Tech before, it was a new learning curve for Precious, but she forged ahead all the same.
As she continued her training, days became weeks, weeks became months, and months were almost becoming a year; it was a six months journey into a world that was alien to the young lady.
But guess what…., she eventually started understanding the technical know-how of Robotics and could write lines of code and make things happen in that space. This was the turning point of her life.
To cut the long story short, Precious is presently in Dubai, working as a Robotics Engineer and earns $10,000 (N6, 000,000) monthly. She studied Chemistry but is now a Robotics Engineer. All these happened in the space of less than 2 years.
What did Precious do differently? She built herself for Opportunitiesand not Jobs. Are you doing the same?
Here are three factors you must pay attention too, if you want to make the best out of Opportunities:
First of all what is opportunity? Opportunity is “access to profitable information”; opportunity works better when you’ve built the rightSkills, Ability and Association.
If you can fix these things around you, it means you are building yourself for opportunities and not jobs.
