DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme (Public Policy and Good Governance) Scholarship

Program Overview:

• Assists future leaders from developing countries in promoting democracy and social justice

• Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office

• Provides Master's degree scholarships in social, political, and economic development-related fields

Eligibility Criteria:

• Graduates from developing and emerging countries with a Bachelor's or equivalent degree

• Above-average grades (upper third) in Social and Political Sciences, Law, Economics, Public Policy, and Administration

• Willingness to contribute to home country/region's development

• Practical experience (professional, internships, political/social commitment)

Benefits:

• Monthly scholarship of € 934

• Health insurance in Germany

• Travel allowances

• Study and research grant

• Rent subsidies and family supplements (as applicable)

• Preceding German language course (mandatory)

Selection Criteria:

• Academic, professional, and personal motivation

• Practical experience relevant to the program

• Above-average grades (upper third)

• Well-argued case for funding (for candidates with a Master's degree)

Formal Requirements:

• Last university degree not older than six years (date of issue not before January 1, 2018)

• Candidates who have spent more than 15 months in a non-DAC-listed country are not eligible
