The JournalismAI Academy for Small Newsrooms is a free online program designed to provide journalists and media professionals in small newsrooms with an in-depth look at the potential of artificial intelligence. The program, created by the JournalismAI team at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and powered by Google News Initiative, has been training newsroom professionals from around the world since 2021.
Program Details:
Duration: 8 weeks (starting in September 2024)
Eligibility: Journalists and media professionals working in small newsrooms (fewer than 50 employees) in Sub-Saharan Africa (including Central Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, and West Africa) from GMT-1 to GMT+4.
Requirements: Basic understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning, fluency in English, and a stable WiFi connection.
Selection Criteria: Priority given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to influence the strategic adoption of AI in their news organization.
Program Structure: Masterclasses, discussions, and resource development to support AI adoption in news organizations.
