Opportunity Title: Books2Africa International Volunteering Programme 2026

For people interested in international volunteering and educational access, Books2Africa offers a practical way to contribute to the distribution of books and learning materials to African schools and communities.

The programme is based at the charity's processing centre in Canterbury, UK, where volunteers help collect, sort, pack and ship donated educational materials. Participants can gain NGO experience and develop teamwork, communication and organisational skills.

Who can apply?

The published criteria require applicants to be at least 18, fluent in English and experienced in volunteering. Applicants must submit a CV and a recommendation letter from a previous volunteer employer or a Books2Africa ambassador. Successful applicants must also satisfy the relevant UK visa and accommodation requirements.

Is it fully funded?

No. This is an unpaid volunteering programme lasting up to 12 months. The published programme fee is £3,000, excluding visa costs and UK living expenses. Volunteers are responsible for accommodation, food and travel, although limited expense reimbursements are available for eligible workdays.

When can you apply?

Books2Africa states that the next application window runs from 1–30 November 2026. Prepare your CV, personal statement, references and realistic budget before applying. Read the official prospectus carefully so you understand the total cost.

The organisation also warns that it has no authorised recruitment agents. Submit your application directly and do not pay anyone claiming to guarantee admission.
